Nieuwbouw Intratuin, Venlo (Nederland) 2013
For years, Intratuin Venlo stood alone in the newly developed area on the border of Tegelen and Venlo, right on the A73 and A74 motorways to and from Germany. The old garden center has been completely demolished and a small retail park has been replaced with a new modern Intratuin and also a new McDonald's and Karwei DIY store.
The new 'city garden center' is almost 5,000 m² in size and 14 meters high, spread over two floors with lots of glass and greenery. Various parts of the facades are covered with plants. The roof is completely covered with polycarbonate sheets and the steel is powder coated in the color brown-grey. This creates an ideal retail environment with a modern yet warm atmosphere.
Remarkable about Intratuin Venlo is the relatively large storey that occupies the majority of the warm greenhouse. On this floor there is a restaurant/garden café with an emphasis on healthy food, a play corner for the children and there is sufficient space for the sale of seasonal decorations and other products.
Striking is the large turnstile in the middle of the facade, which serves as an entrance to the garden center. From there, customers can choose where to go: the cold greenhouse or up the stairs to the garden café in the warm greenhouse.
