New build Hageland Bygnes, Kopervik (Norway) 2017
At the end of November 2016 we started work on the complete new build of Hageland garden center in Karmøy. This new branch that covers an area of almost 2,800 m² is the new eye-catcher in the Norwegian Hageland chain of garden centers. Aside from its characteristic curved entrance, the accentuated overhang in the façade is further enhanced by the Hageland house-style colors.
The building has been provided with a heated and unheated greenhouse with an extra section built in an Open Sky roof. Entrepreneur Ola Apeland: “An Open Sky roof measuring 500 m² has been installed above part of our outdoor plant retail area. On sunny days both the roof and side walls of the outdoor area are open. These close automatically on rainy or windy days.”
Climate control in the building is divided into four zones so the temperature can be adjusted for the various kinds of plants. Various measures have been taken to improve sustainability of the building, such as fitting LED lighting which saves 70% to 80% in comparison to normal lighting. Carbon dioxide is also extracted from outside air and converted to plant food.
The Karmøy branch opened in April 2017.
