New clubhouse in Hoogwoud
14 SEPT 2021
The West Frisian Hockey Club Spire was in urgent need of a new club building. The association has the playing fields at De Weijver, and the meeting place - with the canteen - was an outdated and dilapidated building and cost the club a lot of money to heat. Time for new construction.
Breddels Architecten has designed a brand new clubhouse, which is not only used by the Spire Hockey Club, but also by Reflection Beach & Zaal Volleyball Opmeer, Gert Jan de Jong - Personal Training and Infinite Training. In addition to a beautiful building, the wish was therefore also a functional building, with a view of the hockey fields from both the canteen and a covered terrace.
For the design, Breddels Architecten has opted for two cubist shapes that have been pushed together. The lower part contains the equipment room, large changing rooms and a boardroom. The canteen is located in the higher cube.
Contractor NP Bakker was responsible for the realization of the new clubhouse, but a large group of volunteers was intensively involved in the construction and provided support and took over part of the tasks in order to save a lot of costs.
